These original small tiles were used repeatedly as patterned tiled borders, often around narrative scenes painted onto tiles. They were also used mixed with other tiles; examples can be found in the fireplace at Kelmscott Manor, Oxfordshire. The ‘Swans’ fabric recreates the look of the very tonal, spontaneous hand-painted tiles and is available in two colourways, printed onto linen union.
